Center for Progressive Reform Announces Nationwide Search for New Executive Director

The Board of Directors of the Center for Progressive Reform (CPR) announced today that the organization has launched a nationwide search for a new executive director. The search begins following the departure of current Executive Director Matthew Shudtz.

"We're deeply indebted to our current executive director, Matthew Shudtz, for his 14 years of service to CPR, the last six as our executive director," said CPR Board President Robert Verchick. "Under his leadership, the organization has grown in size and become more deeply engaged with the broader public interest advocacy community. We're saddened to see him leave. Like many Americans, Matt has struggled with the challenges of taking care of family during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the school year approaching and young children at home, he's decided to step down to turn his full attention to family obligations brought on by the crisis."

A five-member committee chaired by Board member Michele Janin is leading the search process. While the search is underway, current Board members Laurie Ristino and Gilonne d'Origny will lead CPR as Interim Co-Executive Directors. Ristino's background includes founding Strategies for a Sustainable Future and serving as a federal attorney. D'Origny has served as Translational Advisor for the Institute for Protein Design at the University of Washington and also runs PlanetA, a cellular agriculture and climate solutions consultancy.

"We're honored to serve in this interim leadership capacity," said Ristino and d'Origny. "CPR is a vital organization made up of deeply knowledgeable scholars and staff who are passionate about social justice, health, safety, and the environment, and we're committed to ensuring a seamless and momentum-building executive director transition as CPR embarks on its next chapter."

Applicants interested in the executive director position can reach out to Michele Janin at execdirjob@progressivereform.org or tune in to CPR’s Twitter and Facebook profiles, where a link to the job announcement and description will be posted soon.
