Mary Jane Angelo

Mary Jane Angelo is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

 

Professor Angelo teaches Environmental Law, Environmental Dispute Resolution, and Professional Responsibility and the Legal Profession.

 

Prior to joining the University of Florida faculty, Professor Angelo was the Senior Assistant General Counsel for St. Johns River Water Management District, in Palatka, FL. Ms. Angelo also served with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, in the Office of General Counsel and Office of the Administrator, working on federal litigation (District and Circuit Courts), rulemaking, administrative litigation, and legal counseling on a wide variety of federal environmental law matters. Professor Angelo also served as an Attorney for the Center for Governmental Responsibility in Gainesville, Florida, drafting model wetlands protection ordinances for Florida local governments.

 

Professor Angelo is the author of numerous publications and law reviews centering on wetlands, pesticides, endangered species, water resources, and the environment.  Her recent publications include Corn, Carbon and Conservation: Rethinking U.S. Agricultural Policy in a Changing Global Environment, George Mason Law Review, spring 2010, and Stumbling Toward Success: A Story of Legal Adaptation and Ecological Resilience, Nebraska Law Review 2009. Professor Angelo also authored a chapter entitled, “Valuing Nature: The Challenge of a National Environmental Legacy Act,” that will appear in Beyond Environmental Law: Policy Proposals for a Better Environmental Future, edited by CPR Member Scholars David Driesen and Alyson C. Flournoy.
